Scholar-artist bags US award
Chinese scholar Zhang Xuedong was awarded the George Kozmetsky Award presented by the Society for Design and Process Science in the United States for his research into Chinese traditional culture.
In his creative work Yi-picture Thinking, Zhang used 108 images, which look like Chinese calligraphy, to reveal the essence of Chinese traditional culture and the harmony between man and nature.
The award citation says "It is granted to those who have made great contributions to trans-diciplinary innovation." Zhang has spent more than 20 years studying Chinese philosophy.
